Engineering, construction, and operations firm CH2M HILL and The Olayan Group have formed a new joint venture, CH2M Olayan, the companies announced on January 25.
The venture will help meet the public and private infrastructure requirements of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom’s rapidly growing population and booming economy have highlighted the need for an array of projects from integrated water desalination to power generation plants.
Lee McIntire, CEO of Denver-based CH2M Hill, announced the launch of the JV in Riyadh while participating in Saudi Arabia's annual Global Competitiveness Forum. "We need to be local," he said. "It is very much in our strategic interest. The timing is good. Projects are getting bigger and bigger…in Saudi Arabia. I am confident that our experience, combined with Olayan’s rooted structure and resources in Saudi Arabia, will place us in a position to deliver state-of-the-art services.”
Olayan Group Chairman Khaled Olayan said the joint venture will "execute large projects on time and at competitive costs."
He added, "We will benefit greatly from transferred knowledge, expertise and technologies, which will contribute to the further growth of the Kingdom’s economy and help it continue to become more competitive in the global and domestic marketplaces. Olayan has a long track record of bringing superior products, services, technologies and capital to Saudi Arabia and to the region.”
